Tailor-made solution
As with above-ground tanks, we will supply three sizes of above-ground bulk tank; 1410 litre (600kg), 2200 litre (1000kg) and 4600 litre (2000kg). The type of tank you receive will be dependent on your needs. A 1410 litre tank is sufficient for most domestic installations, whereas business installations will usually require more LPG storage due to higher usage.
Simple installation
Before installing one of our below-ground bulk tanks we require excavation work to be carried out where the tank will sit, and pipework will be laid. The trench for the pipework must lead from the narrow end of the tank hole. A concrete base is also required in the bottom of the hole, and we usually provide a pre-cast base with all our below-ground bulk tanks. If you need any assistance in finding someone to carry out the excavation work before we install a tank, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Things to consider
Safety first
Once our bulk tank has been installed and pipework laid we cannot fill the tank with gas until the hole has been filled back in. To give the tank the most protection we recommend that sand or pea gravel is used to fill the hole back in. This must be undertaken with great care so that no service pipework is damaged. Again, if you are unsure we can recommend tradespeople to help you with this.
Other work
Please take note:
- No cables or other services, such as electricity or drainage are permitted to run through the excavation area.
- We also advise that any trees be at least three meters from any below-ground tank as the roots could cause damage to the tank.
We make it easy
We will always advise on the best options for your needs and will happily liaise with contractors directly for you to ensure work is carried out to a high standard and in accordance with the UKLPG Codes of Practice.
